Many websites became unviewable with the launch of Microsofts latest version of the popular Internet Explorer.
This meant that webpages previously working OK in IE6, but failing to meet the higher standards required for IE7, sent the browser into 'Quirks Mode' and the site would not display as intended.
As nearly all new computers are being delivered with IE7 It is important that your site complies with the standards.
The need for a reformulated version of HTML was felt primarily because Web content now needs to be
delivered to many new mobile devices apart from traditional computers, where extra resources cannot be devoted
to support the additional complexity of HTML syntax.
XHTML is the successor to HTML. As such, many consider XHTML to be the
current or latest version of HTML.
The W3C continues to recommend the use of XHTML 1.1, XHTML 1.0, and HTML 4.01 for web publishing
